Your Vote in This Race Matters More Than You Know
August 6th is coming. And in Northeast Tennessee, it might be the most important date on the calendar this year.
That is not something we say to get your attention. It is something we believe because of what the numbers tell us about how primary elections actually work.
The reality of August primaries in Tennessee.
Primary elections draw a fraction of the voters that show up in November. In a state senate district race like this one, we are talking about a few thousand votes deciding the outcome across Carter, Johnson, and Washington County. That is it.
What that means is simple. A few thousand motivated voters showing up for Dan Pohlgeers on August 6th is not a long shot. It is a real path to winning this race. The people who decide it are going to be regular District 3 Republicans who made the choice to show up on one Tuesday in August.
That could be you. It should be you.
Why this race matters.
Ballad Health controls the hospitals for over 1 million people in this region. It is the largest state-sanctioned hospital monopoly in the country. A major investigation by KFF Health News found that Ballad failed to meet approximately 3 out of 4 quality benchmarks set by the state of Tennessee. ER wait times have more than tripled. And Ballad still owes nearly $148 million in charity care it promised when lawmakers handed it exclusive control over healthcare in Northeast Tennessee.
District 3 deserves a senator whose loyalty is to the people, not to the company running their hospitals.
Dan Pohlgeers is running to change it.
Dan is a Johnson City businessman who spent 20 years working as a healthcare professional in this region. He built a medical consulting practice helping local physicians navigate the legislation that has shaped healthcare here. He knows this system from the inside. And he decided that enough was enough.
He is not a career politician. He is someone who wants to fight for the people of District 3 in Nashville.
What we are asking:
Vote on August 6th. Vote for Dan Pohlgeers. Tell everyone you know in District 3 to do the same.
Primary elections are where real change starts. The voters who show up are the ones who decide what happens next. We believe Northeast Tennessee is ready for something different. We just need you to show up and say so.
August 6th. Vote Dan Pohlgeers for Tennessee Senate District 3.
