Johnson County GOP Meeting Takes a Turn
At a recent Johnson County Republican Party meeting, something happened that a lot of people in that room won't forget anytime soon.
Dan Pohlgeers, who is challenging Senator Rusty Crowe in the August 6th Republican primary, walked to the podium and did what candidates are supposed to do. He talked about the issues. He presented facts. He discussed Senator Crowe's 36-year tenure in the Senate and his financial relationship with Ballad Health, a relationship Crowe himself has disclosed on his own financial filings.
And right in the middle of his remarks, the chairman of the Johnson County GOP tried to cut him off.
Every other candidate at that meeting spoke without interruption, for as long as they wanted. Dan was the only one who had the microphone threatened while he was still speaking.
He kept talking anyway. Composed, on point, and finished.
That moment told us everything we needed to know. When the facts about an incumbent's record make the people protecting him uncomfortable enough to breach basic protocol, those facts are worth paying attention to.
Northeast Tennessee deserves a senator who shows up and answers for his record. It deserves a primary process where every candidate gets a fair hearing, not just the ones the local establishment has already decided should win.
Votes should be earned. Not inherited.
The August 6th primary is your opportunity to make that call. We hope you'll stand with Dan Pohlgeers.
